On May 7, 2024, Hastings County received notification from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) of the 2024-25 Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) funding allocation of $6,142,600 (the same amount of funding received for 2023-24).

Funding is 100% Provincial through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

  • 38% to Community Outreach and Support Services
    • Food Security
    • Transportation
    • Eviction Prevention
    • Integrated Service Hubs
  • 31% to Emergency Shelter Solutions
    • After-Hours Programs
    • Warming Rooms
  • 18% to Housing Assistance
    • Arrears and Deposits to ensure housing retention
  • 13% to Supportive Housing
    • Home for Good
  • $1,000,000 in Capital Investment

This funding reflects the historic, ongoing investments the Ontario government is making to support Service Managers, Indigenous Program Administrators, and municipalities in their work to support vulnerable people in Ontario. The objective of the HPP is to support Service Managers in preventing, addressing and reducing homelessness, including chronic homelessness.

An Investment Plan was due to the MMAH by May 24, 2024; Hastings County has been granted an extension to submit by June 30, 2024, to ensure time for Committee and Council approval. Given the amount of funding received for 2024-25 is the same as that of 2023-24, the 2024-25 Investment Plan replicates the previous Plan.

If the Investment Plan is approved, Hastings County will re-release the previously approved application in the fall of 2024. A report making recommendations for agency funding will follow application scoring and evaluation.
