Habitat Village is a 5-storey, 66 unit affordable homeownership development featuring a mix of 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom units by Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings (Habitat PEH) located at 93 Dundas Street, Belleville, the former location of the police station.

The new homes will be available for first time home buyers to purchase on an affordable mortgage, allowing them to build their own equity and long-term financial stability.

Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings (Habitat PEH) is a non-profit organization that has contributed to the local housing inventory for over 25 years through home ownership. The organization partners with families, developers, contractors, volunteers, donors, and suppliers to build and repair homes and advocate for better housing solutions. Some of their notable builds in Belleville include 639 & 641 Sidney Street, and 633 Sidney Street.

Goal

The project will contribute to Belleville’s annual Housing Accelerator Fund (federal) and Building Faster Fund (provincial) housing targets.

Funding

Belleville donated the property to Habitat PEH in 2020. In addition, the City has provided pre-zoned the site to a site-specific Residential Type 3 (R3-15) Zone in May 2025 to facilitate shovel-ready development of a 5-storey 66-unit condominium apartment building and a day care centre.

In 2025, Belleville approved a $1,118,000 contribution to the capital campaign paid in the 2026 Operating Budget.

Habitat PEH is in the process of securing funding from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), and the final step in the process is to obtain a building permit.
