The Transportation Master Plan is an important planning document that helps the City identify, prioritize, and implement changes to the
transportation network to meet existing and future travel needs.
The Plan examines deficiencies, develops recommendations, and sets strategic directions for creating a sustainable, accessible, and livable community. Recommendations arising from the study will guide the establishment of infrastructure improvement priorities and support the development of the City’s Capital Construction Plan.
It was prepared in 2014 and is intended to provide transportation planning initiatives and guide the provision of transportation infrastructure and services in the City through 2034.
The TMP made 9 key recommendations:
- Adopt land use policies that support a safe, equitable and sustainable transportation system that achieves a balance between all modes
- Promote active and sustainable travel modes
- Adopt a “Complete Streets” approach to transportation planning that considers all road users in the planning, design, and operation of the transportation network
- Invest in pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure
- Create a safe and attractive environment for walking and cycling
- Provide convenient transit service that offers a viable alternative to the automobile
- Provide a safe and efficient road network
- Manage the demand and supply for parking
- Provide an efficient system of goods movement that supports the local economy while minimizing impacts to residents
A 10-Year Review of the 2014 TMP was approved in the 2022 Operating Budget (D4-6) for $200,000.

- Roundabout Policy
- Road Classification Updates
- Pedestrian Policy and Sidewalk Strategy
- Railway Crossing Safety Assessments
