Premier Doug Ford announced that Ontario will be providing Belleville with $1,240,000 in funding through the Building Faster Fund as the municipality has exceeded its 2023 housing target by 284%, breaking ground on a total of 644 new housing units last year.

“Belleville is getting it done on housing and we are proud to reward them for their success,” said Premier Doug Ford. “Today’s $1.24 million announcement provides flexible funding that I encourage Belleville to put towards local priorities such as the proposal to build a hub for mental health and addictions services. My challenge to Mayor Ellis and to every mayor in Ontario is to get even more homes built in the coming years so we can make life more affordable and keep the dream of homeownership alive for families across the province. We’ll be there to support you every step of the way.”

The funds will be used to support the $55M Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station project which will support developments to accommodate 20,000 new residents in the west end.
