The Community Trees bare-root seedling giveaway is back on May 4 in Market Square behind City Hall (169 Front St.) starting at 9 a.m. Residents can select from a variety of native trees and shrub species which include:
- Alleghany Serviceberry
- Black Cherry
- Eastern White Pine
- Hackberry
- Nannyberry
- Ninebark
- Red Oak
- Red Pine
- Silver Maple
- Sugar Maple
- White Birch
- White Cedar
- White Spruce
As these seedlings are in limited quantities, residents may pick up to five seedlings per household and no more than three of the same species. The event will run as long as quantities last however, supplies are expected to go quickly so residents are encouraged to get there early.
