Belleville sets fines for noise

Fines are $250 for causing noise from:

  • Amplified sound
  • Revving an engine
  • Tire squeal
  • Auditory signaling device
  • Selling or advertising
  • No muffler
  • Construction equipment when prohibited
  • Toy, model or replica when prohibited
  • Tools when prohibited
  • Pest control device when prohibited
  • Yelling or shouting when prohibited

and $500 for obstructing an officer.

Over the past 5 years, no revenue has been generated from set fines under the Noise By-law.

Meeting

That, pursuant to the Manager of By-law Enforcement’s Report No. MBECS-2025-19, Noise By-law – Set Fines, Council approve the proposed set fines under the Provincial Offences Act for the Noise By-law.

And that the appropriate documentation be submitted to the Ministry of the Attorney General for approval.
