Health Canada grants $3.5M for the Bridge Integrated Care Hub retrofit

To help support the response to the illegal toxic drug and overdose crisis, Health Canada selected Belleville’s Bridge Integrated Care Hub as one of 65 community led projects across the country to receive a total of $84.8 million in funding for 65 community-led projects through the Substance Use and Addictions Program and the Emergency Treatment Fund overseen by Ya’ara Saks, federal Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health.

$3,498,129 to retrofit a building in Belleville into an integrated care hub, “The Bridge,” for individuals at risk of opioid-related drug poisoning and homelessness. The hub will provide improved access to a range of services, foster greater integration among service providers, and enhance safety for clients and staff.

That By-law Number 2025-54: A By-law to approve and authorize the execution of an agreement between The Corporation of the City of Belleville and the John Howard Society of Belleville and District and Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward be read and passed; AND,

THAT the 2025 Operating Budget be amended to add $3,500,000 to the Bridge expenditure budget, and be funded from Federal Grants.
