The City of Belleville is conducting a Planning Area Study (the Study) for the distinct areas of Cannifton and Corbyville Village (the Study Area) and the nearby employment area (Northeast Industrial Park), all of which are anticipated to face significant growth pressure in the near future.

The goal of the Cannifton/Corbyville Planning Strategy is to guide future development while respecting the area’s history, identity, and rural character. The study recognizes that Cannifton and Corbyville are made up of several distinct communities with strong agricultural roots that have developed in their own way.
This study is being conducted in accordance with the Integrated Approach as set out in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process. This process allows for the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act and the Planning Act to be satisfied concurrently. Because the study includes reviewing water, wastewater, and stormwater needs, it will satisfy Phases 1 and 2 of the MCEA process, providing the basis for future investigations of any identified Schedule B or C projects.
Upon completion of the study, a final report will be made available for public and agency review. The City of Belleville has retained Dillon Consulting Limited to complete a detailed planning analysis for the Cannifton/Corbyville Planning Area at a cost of $555,000
