The city has agreed in principle to pay $300,000 for the Pinnacle Street property, which is $50,000 below the Legion’s asking price.
Mayor Ellis said three linked properties (rec centre, Legion and Memorial Arena) could inspire a “project that’s going to be more viable as opposed to owning bookends with a property in the middle.”
Mayor Ellis said redevelopment of the Memorial is inevitable:
That’s the ideal goal: to develop that property. But development in that area is going to take more than a year or two years.
Something’s going to have to be done with it – private investment, public investment or both together,
It makes common sense to link all three and market them together
