Funding was provided through the application-based Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Stream under the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program to help municipalities build, maintain and repair municipal roads, bridges and culverts. All municipalities that own road and bridge assets are eligible to apply for funding.
Today’s announcement is welcome news
We are facing a crisis in our community and housing plays a major role in the solution. This project will see the construction of a new road off Bridge Street West and Dunnett boulevard, extending the intersection into the former fairgrounds property and allowing for the development of up to 300 medium- and high-density units on the site.
Mayor Neil Ellis
this will help put the main road into the project. This jumpstarts it. The $1.25 million is to put toward the infrastructure and road. It’s always nice to get money that will fund any project the city has.
Mayor Neil Ellis
Projects will be cost shared between municipalities and the province. The province would fund a maximum of 50% (up to $20 million) of eligible project costs, and the municipality would be required to fund all remaining (a minimum of 50%) project costs.
