The report was accepted as information by Council, so the following underutilized properties will proceed through the Regulate Acquisition and Disposal of Real Property Bylaw 2022-133 and the Real Property Acquisition and Disposition Policy as intended for infill housing development through the Housing Accelerator Fund initiative.
West Park Village

This site, currently used as open space, represents a significant redevelopment opportunity. The site has flexibility in potential housing density and forms, with townhomes and multiplex-style dwellings being possible options. The site has been identified in the Parkland and Recreation Master Plan as being recommended for disposition consideration. This site benefits from Morris Drive Parkette which is located within a 500m radius of West Park Village minimizing the impact on open spaces while enhancing community living.
Briarwood Crescent

This infill site presents an opportunity for low to mid-density residential development. Consideration of development could include narrow townhomes or a multi- unit dwelling. The sites are recommended to be severed from the adjacent north parcel known as Stanley Park and consolidated. Future consideration for the lots could include retained space for an active transportation trail that may provide access to Stanley Park. Development will likely require specific design guidelines to accommodate the unique constraints of the site.
