Quinte Field Naturalists will be Planting for the Future and funding the planting of 18 large trees in Clifford Sonny Belch Park the week of April 22. Following the planting, they will be marking the occasion with a special community event on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be the first planting and community gathering in the park since the fences were removed after two years of construction.
There will be a number of information booths set up throughout the park on the day to help residents get to know participating community groups. Quinte Field Naturalists will set up a booth to speak with attendees about their tree planting program. Quinte Waste Solutions will be in attendance to answer questions from the community about recycling. Wild Birds Unlimited will provide information about backyard bird feeding and bird conservation, and the Lawn Bowling Club will be available to answer questions about their organization.
In addition to the community booths, there will also be a colouring contest for children, a tree seedling giveaway for the first 50 people in attendance and prize draws which will include a raffle for an oriole feeder.
