Barb Enright-Miller was elected as a councillor in Ward 1 of the City of Belleville in the 2022 municipal election, placing 6th.

• Owner of Kente Property Management Ltd. (acquired in 2019) as the rental arm of the business

Established in 1987, Royal Property Management manages more than 55 condominium corporations and offers property management services to owners of investment real estate, or both commercial and residential property. 

They deal with day to day tenant, building, superintendent, contract as well as after hour issues that invariably arise with the ownership of investment property.

Reviews of Royal Property Management and Kente Property Management are mixed with a Google rating of 3.0 with 27 and 2.6 with 12 reviews, respectively, with reviewers saying they are either the great or terrible to work with – primarily due to a lack of communication by staff.

The role of a manager has many parallels with a council member, which is why I decided to run this year; to help my fellow Belleville citizens with practical “boots on the ground” experience.

That fit, having managed properties of all shapes and sizes, from single family homes to town homes to high rises and commercial buildings, is similar to what a council manages, large scale.

Much like councilors and their constituents, beyond the bricks and mortar, I have a keen focus on those who reside in the properties, acting for the benefit of the whole not a single agenda.

I have many government and legal authorities that I report to; from fire safety and elevator compliance, to electrical authorities, building inspectors/ lawyers to name a few.  I wear a lot of hats for building and infrastructure planning and execution.  Much like what is presented to city council in terms of tenders, and bids and projections to repairs collective city infrastructure, buildings, roads, and work with developers on new construction.

I have worked with a vast array of trades and contractors over the years, negotiated many contracts large and small, and have drafted and adhered to yearly budgets from thousands to millions.  I have years of first-hand experience with Reserve planning for capital repairs and future planning.

I love challenges and I get great satisfaction when people are happy with the job I have done. I see what is facing our city healthcare, homelessness, housing, construction growth, I truly feel if given the chance I can help the council find solutions which will be viable all within our own economic parameters. I like to think out of the box, it’s help me in good standing all these years. If given a chance I will work hard and make the people that put me there proud they did .. my family is all here I want Belleville to be the place mine and yours and our neighbours family’s kids and their kids stay and raise families and grow and prosper

Right Time, Right Choice

To my fellow Belleville Residents: I am proud to be seeking your support in the upcoming election as City Counsellor, Ward 1. I have started this journey because I want to help.

I was born and raised in Belleville, raised my family, and own my business here. I am committed to our city and our community, of which many of you are friends, family, and colleagues.

Our goals, I am sure, are the same. We need our collective dollars spent in the best way possible.

Belleville is family for us all. It is where we work, grow and play. We

have so much to be proud of and capitalize on with our combination of small town charm and big city amenities.

I would never claim to have all the answers, but I will listen, learn and make good decisions on behalf of you all. We are all in this together. I understand the challenges we face in our community.

We must work together for the long-term, viable and sustainable solutions to the problems facing our city:

HEALTH CARE: Due to our doctor shortage and overtaxed nurses and healthcare workers

HOUSING: For those in need, property that’s affordable and reachable for both renters and homeownership

OUR SENIORS AND BABY BOOMERS: They make up the largest demographic in our area and we need to accommodate them through housing and social services

HOMELESS COMMUNITY: The growing problem in our city for those who need shelter and food. 

INFRASTRUCTURE: So, we can continue to grow this city and can compete with other municipalities and keep our dollars here 

LABOUR, WORKFORCE & JOBS: Let’s keep our talent, skilled labour here in our city & give our people a reason to stay and raise families here

ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT: We have such a vast cultural city. Let’s enhance it and enjoy our many cultures we really are more alike than we are different. Let’s make our city a destination through a blend of urban and rural opportunity 

Positive growth is inevitable and achievable through good governance.

I will bring to council my many years in performance and asset management, strategic planning and capital renewal, along with my unique brand of problem solving and interpersonal skills. I assure you I will work honestly and with integrity on your behalf.

I am very approachable and will strive, if elected, to help ensure the conduct of council will be governed in a way all citizens will be proud of the choices they make.

Personal life

Enright-Miller is married to husband John Miller. Her son Brett Miller is the author of A Bold Walk to Happiness. Her daughter Nicole Miller owns Wish Home Accents & Gifts in Trenton.

Her father, the late Frank Enright started JF Enright Insurance in 1978, which in 2002 merged with Insurance Management Inc. (IMI). The combined insurance brokerage had annual premiums of $60 million.

Her nephew Nick Enright is part owner of NINE golf course and a partner at McDougall Insurance & Financial who has been named an Elite Broker by Insurance Brokers Canada in 2019 and 2020.
