Michael Clark – Candidate for Councillor of Ward 2 in City of Belleville, ON

Updated October 20, 2022 by

Michael Clark is running as a candidate for councillor in the City of Belleville in the 2022 municipal election. He ran unsuccessfully for council in 2014.

Clark was born in Belleville in 1981 and primarily raised in Belleville. He also lived in Pickering, Whitby, Scarborough, Hamilton and spent 5 years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has lived in Thurlow Ward for just over 15 years.

Education

  • Radio and Broadcast program at Loyalist College

Community involvement

  • He’s organized:
    • Candlelit Vigil for Roy Mays Jr and The Hannah Family behind City Hall.
    • ‘Bringing Back Belleville’ and ‘Sounds for Cancer’
  • A Good Night’s Sleep program providing bed frames to families in need through his custom furniture business
  • Built the sleeping quarters for The Grace Inn Homeless Shelter
  • Volunteered for Ribfest the past 6 years.

Career

2022 election priorities

From his website:

  • Roads
  • Affordable Housing
  • Homelessness
  • Improving life in Thurlow

More schools

Push for more schools in Ward 2 saying the area was growing fast and both Harmony and Foxboro public schools were overcrowded, creating problems for both staff and students

In the past, the current council has been sitting on certain issues and taking too long to get things done, or even not doing anything at all, especially in Ward 2. It’s not hard to tell that we get neglected in Ward 2. Ward 1 gets new or updated parks and splash pads often, but what does Thurlow get? The people of Belleville in both Wards deserve someone who isn’t afraid to speak up and stir the pot to make sure things get done. We need new people inside City Hall who have a different vision for our beautiful city. If elected, I will work for the people of Belleville and make sure your concerns and ideas to improve the quality of life in both wards are met.

How do you address the housing crisis?

Personal life

Clark has 4 daughters.
