As per Open Council’s Content Standards, all information published must be found on the open web and attributable to a reliable, published source.
Correcting wrong or outdated information?
Open Council will remove or correct factually incorrect published information upon request, such as if the source we refer to has changed, or if new information has come to light.
We appreciate when people take the time to gives us a head up – it helps us keep the site up-to-date.
Request information be added?
If there is an event, document, statement, motion or other update missing from a page or timeline, let us know and we’ll add it.
Request removal of information?
Generally, the activities of elected officials while in office as well as organizations, employees or representatives who represent the public or receive public funding are not removed as they are in the public interest and are recorded for posterity.
The profiles of unsuccessful candidates are taken offline when they are no longer running for office.

Information included on Open Council is available to the public via the open web or Freedom of Information requests.
We believe the details included are in the public interest.
Personal/family information
Details about careers and business interest are included for council members and their families because they pertain to indirect pecuniary interests under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act. The Act applies to the interests of parents, spouse and adult children, but we expand that to extended families, if their interests are local.
