Health care
A lot of patients are without access to primary care. The least expensive care is primary care and if we can get people preventative care, we can really reduce costs. Most of the money you spend on a person’s health care, in our system currently, is spent in the last few days of their life
Lori Borthwick to Quinte News
As a frontline healthcare worker, I have seen firsthand how the gaps in Ontario’s healthcare system are leaving everyday people behind. I’m a strong believer in the Ontario Greens’ plan to invest in public healthcare close to home and expand preventative care so we can avoid sickness in the first place.
Lori Borthwick to The Quinteist
The best way [make family medicine a job medical students want] is to fund them in a more supportive manner. We need to take a lot of the paperwork, onerous paperwork off of the family care team, especially the family physicians. They don’t want to be small business owners, they want to be doctors.

Housing affordability and homelessness
For the past six years, the Ford government has failed to implement any of the tried-and-true solutions which are proven to increase the supply of homes without the need for costly sprawl.
Our housing plan would build more homes that regular people can afford by building more kinds of homes in existing communities, strengthening protections for renters, and investing in deeply affordable and supportive housing.

Climate change
There is an overriding concern about our world right now and some of the challenges we’re facing as we look towards a warming earth. Warmer than we expected in the past.
Lori Borthwick to Quinte News
What we would prefer is that people would be using heat pumps. Heat pumps have come down a lot in price. They are very economical to run. And if you’re creating a new subdivision what could be better than a geothermal system which is two or three hundred per cent efficiency in heating and cooling peoples’ homes.

Helping those most vulnerable
I live one block from the Grace Inn shelter and one block from the Bridge Street United Outreach. I can see the suffering.

LGBTQ and allies
The Green Party has always supported LGBTQ and allies. We realize that love is love and there should not be, hopefully in the future there won’t be, any prejudice against how a person chooses to identify or whom they choose to love.

Issues and views
I found a home in Greens because we really believe in the participatory democracy. Each member is able to bring forth policies. I think a lot of people feel disenfranchised.
